Favorite Children's Books

So, I'll admit it...I am really a child at heart. I let whoever I dine with cut my steak, I stop by Candy Craze in the mall, and I definitely still read children's books.

Today, I thought I would share a few of my favorite children's books with the blogosphere. Partially because they make me happy and mostly because I can't sleep.

1). Last Christmas, Santa (okay, add that to the list) bought me the book Love You Forever because after babysitting one day, I remembered how much I loved it. I would suggest reading it in a room alone; it's a real tear jerker.

2). Next, is one of my top 5 all-time favorite books (which really is saying a lot for a bookworm like me). Anyone else love The Giving Tree? If Love You Forever didn't get you crying, this one surely will. Could you imagine reading both on the same day?! I'd have a headache forever.

3). Anyone remember a baby bat that ended up in a bird's nest? That's right-it's Stellaluna! After landing in the bird nest, the different creatures (bird and bat) say, "How can we be so different and feel so alike?" I have always loved that line! Maybe this was an early hint at my love for getting to know different people OR maybe it was God's way of telling me I was going to be a weirdo but I'll still make friends ;) Another great thing about this book is the memories attached to it. For some reason, I remember reading this one on my dad's lap and drinking apple cider. Those were the days...

4). I also love the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I doubt this needs further explanation.

5). Next, I used to be obsessed with an odd little book called The Busy World of Richard Scary. To be honest, I don't remember tons about this one expect maybe that it had a TV show at one time.

Some other favorites were Where the Wild Things Are (speaking of, I hated the movie), Are You My Mother, and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

Did I leave any of your favorites out?
