Summer Adventures

Summer is upon us!

Only 17 days, 1 hour, 39 minutes, and 53 seconds until my last final is over (yes, "there's an app for that")! I am looking forward to this summer more than ever before. After reading Donald Miller's A Million Miles in a Thousand Years over Spring Break, I have realized that my life is often dull and forgettable; honestly, I myself am at blame for this. Within the book, Miller stresses the importance of making memories that last, of spontaneity, and of creating your own adventure. SO, in the spirit of summer and adventure, I have decided to begin to list main adventures that I will take part in this summer, in hopes that by blogging them I will be held accountable. Here are my first two:

Adventure #1: Make the most of studying abroad in Italy! I have an incredible opportunity to spend the month of July in Arezzo, Italy with my best friend Mallory. My other friend Holly (who is super involved in OU's international community), proposes that the reason that foreign exchange students that come to America have such a wonderful time is because they have no inhibitions. I hope that when in Italy I can channel their attitudes and--to a safe degree--let go of my own inhibitions.

Adventure #2: Train for a marathon! Having somewhat of a background in distance running, this is one of those goals that I have always "said" that I was going to do but never actually did. I run here and there as a stress reliever, but nothing consistent. This summer, I would like to begin training for a marathon that will actually take place in the late fall. Preferably, I would like to tack on another adventure by participating in an out of state marathon so I could travel there.

I am hoping to add at least 5 (hopefully more!) adventures to this list by the time that school lets out. Any suggestions?

Love, Alex

I took Italiano while at OU myself.

And I'm glad to see you found me and that you're blogging!
